Habitat for Humanity of White County takes applications for housing on a continuous basis. Applications are screened based on need, income, credit and a willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. The income is based on the average income for White County and the number of people living in the household. Credit does not have to be great but it should be decent. However, never let what you think your credit looks like deter you from applying!
All Habitat for Humanity families must put in at least 350 hours of time working with Habitat, "sweat equity," before they can move into their homes. Once the home is complete, Habitat sells the home to the family. A 0% interest loan is made, and the homeowner makes payments directly to Habitat for Humanity of White County to help pay for other homes.
